ALL MODELLERS flying model aircraft at the ModelAir model flying events, whether they be flying free flight, control-line or radio control, MUST carry proof of current third party insurance whilst flying - and be prepared to show it to a ModelAir representative, if asked. We request your kind co-operation in this. It is a requirement of the Old Warden Management Team and failure to comply could mean the permanent loss of the airfield to modellers. Please note that due to BMFA/CAA guidelines we will be following a 'no proof - no fly' policy at all ModelAir events.FLYING TIMES: Model flying commences at 10.15 am and ends at 5.00pm at which time the airfield must be completely cleared.
Please note the following: - All pilots wishing to fly on the r/c line must book in to the Transmitter Control and show proof of insurance and 'A' Certificate (vintage models) or 'B' Certificate (all other model types). An aircraft safety check will be carried out on all r/c models.
- Free Flighters are expected to observe basic safety considerations regarding personal safety, other pilots and spectators, and weight:power ratio.
- Free Flight RC Assist has been extended by the Flight Director on a TRIAL basis for 2012 - only in the Free Flight area, using 2.4GHz radio only and single or 2-channel control.
- Fliers using RC assist must comply with the RC rules, i.e. they must book in their Transmitters at RC Tx Control (adjacent to the RC area) BEFORE flying RC assist.
- Free Flight RC assist MUST be flown in the spirit in which authorisation has been provisionally been given - i.e. the radio is operated ONLY to keep the model in the field. That is to say, the majority of the flight time is WITHOUT radio assistance, radio only being used to change the model direction from one that would see it leaving the confines of the airfield.
- Regular checks will be made in the FF area to ensure that the spirit of FF RC assist is being followed. Abuse of this authorisation will result in FF RC Assist being banned from the FF area.
LOST MODELS - Please note that if a free flight model lands in one of the farm fields adjacent to the airfield, you should inform Transmitter Control.
- You should not try to retrieve your model.
- One of the ModelAir team will attempt to retrieve models from the fields at the end of the flying day.
- This procedure has been agreed between The Shuttleworth management and the farmer and forms part of the agreement under which ModelAir runs weekend flying events.
- Please be advised that ignoring this requirement will lead to losing the airfield for free flight flying. We would appreciate it if you will kindly respect this and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
ModelAir hope you enjoy your visits to Old Warden Airfield for the ModelAir weekend flying events. We hope you will come back again and bring your friends with you!
