Model Flying Dates in 2008


 

Model Flying Weekends in 2008 allow pilots in all disciplines to fly all weekend, weather permitting! Come along and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere at Old Warden airfield and help support The Shuttleworth Collection at the same time. Flying is from 10am - 6pm and only silent flight is allowed after 6pm. Dates are listed below. Pilots please refer to Pilot Information.

9th May 2008 - A & B CERTIFICATE EXAM DAY
BMFA Examiners will be running a day of A and B Certificate Examinations at Old Warden. A pass obviously will depend on pilot advance  preparation and ability. Please see the BMFA website for details of the requirements for these examinations. There is a £10 fee for each exam to cover examiners' travelling costs. Please contact Mike Reynolds on 07775662955 for an application form. Pilots who pass their A or B Certificates will be able to fly at Old Warden Airfield during the MayFly Weekend.
10th- 11th May 2008 - MAYFLY WEEKEND
Show off your winter building projects and enjoy a relaxed, informal weekend of flying with some light-hearted competitions thrown in. On Sunday we have the 10th Anniversary of the Free Flight EBENEZER MASS LAUNCH - help us beat the UK world record of 120 entries! Other competitions include the Free Flight Low wing Competition, Carrier Deck Control Line Workshop and the Jack Bearton Plate for best vintage aircraft.
25th July 2008 - A & B CERTIFICATE EXAM DAY
In conjunction with the BMFA, ModelAir is holding a day of A and B Certificate Examinations at Old Warden. A pass will depend on pilot advance  preparation and ability. Please see Test Day Requirements for details of the requirements for these examinations and for booking information. There is a £10 fee for each exam to cover examiners' travelling costs. Pilots who pass their A or B Certificates will be able to fly at Old Warden Airfield during the Scale Weekend.
26th - 27th July 2008 - SCALE WEEKEND
The most popular event of the year, with the emphasis on scale models in all disciplines, though all types of model are welcome. Scale competitions include The Shuttleworth Trophy, R/C, Free Flight & Control Line Trophies, and the flight Director's Special Award. A wonderful opportunity to see many superb of both scale and non-scale models.
26th September 2008 - A & B CERTIFICATE EXAM DAY

27th - 28th September 2008 - FESTIVAL OF FLIGHT
Our final event of the year, when modellers and models of all types take part: a display of the best of the season's models. Two new trophies this year are the Free Flight Junior Cup (up to 16 yrs) and the Ken Swailes Memorial Trophy (vintage r/c).
